Concerning his work as secretary of the Northern Oregon Convention, which memorialized Congress for a separate Territory of Columbia; his service in the Oregon and Washington Indian superintendencies; and his appointment as collector of the Port of Port Townsend, 1886.

Quincy Adams Brooks crossed the Plains in 1851 to Olympia, Oregon Territory. A lawyer by training, he became the first prosecuting attorney north of the Columbia River. He also served as secretary to the Superintendent of Indian Affairs for Washington Territory and Oregon, 1856-1860 and assistant quartermaster general of the Oregon State Militia during the Modoc War, 1872-1873.
